Assam mountaineer Hedayet Ali conquers Mount Everest

Guwahati: Mountaineer Hedayet Ali, who hails from Assam’s Hajo, added another feather to his cap by climbing the Mount Everest on Thursday morning. He is the seventh Assamese mountaineer to successfully scaled the Mount Everest.

Ali, who trekked from Lukla to Everest Base Camp, reached the top around 7.30 am on Thursday.

The mountaineer is a software engineer based in California, US. He passed his matriculation examination from Golapara Sainik School.

This is the first expedition of the season to the Mount Everest. Hedayet Ali climbed the peak in an international team comprising 11 other mountaineers.

Notably, he also climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, Mount Acconogua in 2019 and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa in 2018.

The Explorers Club of Guwahati congratulated Ali for his successful expedition.
